Our research tells us that long before the pandemic young people often struggle to enter the world of work. Depending on who you know your experience of moving from education to paid work can be a real struggle and one in which many obstacles must be overcome.
Through our Youth Engagement work we strive to take a practical approach in informing and helping young people who may be at risk of becoming NEET, to make more informed choices about their future.
Our main focus is creating engaging and informative presentations and materials on the skills that so important in the workplace and when you’re looking for a job yet so many young people do not have access to information or training that helps them develop them. Skills like communicating with confidence, making your job application stand out and building resilience.
During these difficult times we’re continuing to develop content and always looking for ways to test and improve our offer. So, if you work with young people and would like to be involved in one of our virtual sessions, just get in touch!
We know that there is often power in numbers, and that there are already many charities and organisations dedicated to informing and inspiring young people. With this is mind we’ve joined the Covid-19 Youth Employment Group.
The group pulls together data, organisations and insights with the aim of:
- Helping those young people who were in the labour market and now find themselves unemployed.
- Helping those young people who were not in education or work in the first place and now see the prospect of work as more distant than ever.
- Helping young people transitioning between education and work who are worried about their prospects in a very uncertain world.
If the group is something you’d like to be part of you can find out more here.
