Cockpit Awards open for applications on 01 September

by Aug 17, 2023Charity partners, Heritage crafts

Our partners Cockpit are excited to announce a number of fantastic awards that aspiring craftspeople can apply for this autumn. A Cockpit Award means a free studio space at Cockpit’s London studios, plus one-to-one business coaching and a place on our world-class business training programme. Recipients are also invited to join a thriving creative community of world-leading craftspeople.

Some Cockpit Awards are open to a craftsperson working in any discipline. Other awards are aimed at supporting a specific craft, such as ceramics or weaving; or creating opportunities for specific groups such as makers under 26 or makers of Asian heritage. For further details click here.

Applications open on 01 September, with closing dates of 2 October and 6 November, depending on the award.

“I can honestly say that the award has helped my practice thrive and become a sustainable business in an industry where there are too few Asian makers. Its important to me to champion the next generation of awardees through the new Bagri Craft Award.”

-Textile artist Majeda Clarke, who joined Cockpit on the Clothworkers’ Award and is now a panellist on the Bagri Craft Award.
