A New Chapter for the City & Guilds Foundation

by Oct 30, 2025News, Statements

The City & Guilds of London Institute has entered a landmark agreement with global leader in education and assessment PeopleCert, marking a pivotal moment in which our revenue-generating activities will be enabled to access greater investment, and have greater impact moving forwards. This strategic move will also enable the Foundation to focus even more sharply on its charitable mission — championing skills development, increasing access to opportunity, and supporting those furthest from the labour market.

Our flagship initiatives, including the Princess Royal Training Awards, will remain central to our mission and will continue to thrive under this renewed focus.

Dame Ann Limb will remain Chair and Dick Palmer the Vice Chair of the City and Guilds of London Institute (CGLI) which will be known simply as the City & Guilds Foundation. We’re also pleased to welcome Mike Adamson CBE as our Interim Chief Executive. Mike brings a wealth of experience from the charitable sector, having previously served as CEO of the British Red Cross and as the current Chair, St Mungos. His leadership will be instrumental in guiding the Foundation through this exciting new phase.

Speaking about this appointment Mike said: ‘I’m thrilled to join the City & Guilds Foundation at such a transformative time. The team has already achieved so much in driving social impact through skills, and I’m excited to build on that success. My focus now is on helping shape the strategic guide rails that will support the Foundation’s next chapter – one rooted in collaboration, innovation, and a deep commitment to those furthest from opportunity. Together, I am sure we’ll continue to make a difference to those who need it most.”

While our structure evolves, our relationships remain unchanged. Whether you’re a Fellow, a funded partner, or an employer engaged with the Princess Royal Training Awards, you are still very much part of our extended family. And we’re committed to continuing to amplify the importance of skills – especially for those who face the greatest barriers.

One practical update, our email addresses have changed. You can now reach us using the format firstname.surname@cityandguildsfoundation.org

We’re excited about what lies ahead and look forward to continuing our work together to make skills matter – for everyone.
