City & Guilds of London Art School is delighted to be partnering with Commonwealth Heritage Forum to host a two-week Introduction to Global Conservation summer school. The summer school will bring together 24 participants working in restoration and construction specialisms from across Commonwealth countries, many of whom are facing the unprecedented challenges that climate change presents to heritage buildings.
At the Art School, participants will spend two weeks building on their knowledge and skill sets by learning a range of lime processes, stone carving and masonry. Collaboration and exchange between participants and the Art School’s faculty will play an important part as they address unique challenges relating to climate change and local sourcing within their countries. Participants will go on two half-day visits to heritage places of significance within London and have the opportunity to synthesise practical experience with broader cultural understandings.
The Summer School will run for two weeks from 22 July – 2 August 2024 and is covered by a full bursary for each participant.
