At City & Guilds we are all connected by our common purpose: to help people develop their skills. And our City & Guilds Foundation was established back in 2019 to really amplify our purpose and particularly with a focus on supporting individuals who face significant barriers in developing their skills.

In an era where inclusivity has become a cornerstone of organisational success, championing and supporting neurodiversity in the workplace is more important than ever.

In 2022, we started talking to Do-IT Solutions, a global market leader in neurodiverse screening and assessment. And with them, over the last two years have been trying to promote a shift away from a negative framing of neurodiversity which focuses on what people cannot do, towards an approach which is inclusive of all the ways of thinking and emphasises what people can do. The collective ambition for the first Neurodiversity Index Report was to help increase awareness and understanding of neurodiversity in the workplace for both individuals and organisations and create that benchmark.

Now 12 months on, we wanted to understand what, if anything, had changed in the workplace – had there been improvement and any trends?

Ahead of Neurodiversity Week, which officially begins next week on Monday 18 March, we’re pleased to be launching our 2024 Neurodiversity Index Report. This report identifies some of the trends, improvements & challenges that remain in increasing neurodiversity in the workplace with a new question relating to parents and carers of neurodivergent children.

You can read the 2024 Neurodiversity Index Report here and find out more on how to champion and support neurodiversity in your own teams. And please do also spread the word amongst your own networks online – as there’s something for all workplaces to learn.

Amanda Kirby, Professor Amanda Kirby, MBBS MRCGP PhD Chief Executive Officer, Do-IT Solutions:

“I’m delighted to be able to partner with the City & Guilds Foundation once again which will hopefully support many organisations on their quest to become more inclusive.”

Charmain Bucho, Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at City & Guilds said:

“Creating an inclusive and supportive workplace environment for neurodiverse employees is not just about accommodation; it’s about meeting their individual needs and unlocking their unique strengths, skills, talents, and capabilities. By recognising and nurturing the inherent potential, employers unlock the heightened skills – from creativity to attention to detail – in which neurodiverse people excel.

At City & Guilds we are striving to improve the support available for neurodiverse people in the workplace by exploring the issues they face and highlighting the simple changes that could make a real difference to the quality of their experience at work.”

Following the launch of this report, join us on Friday March 15 2024, 13:30-14:00 for our webinar with Professor Amanda Kirby, DO-It solutions. Sign-up here: Webinar Registration – Zoom
